Mr. White is the Founding and Senior Partner of the firm, having founded it in 1999. He has extensive trial and litigation experience in state and federal court, and a proven track record of success spanning more than 30 years of practice.

Mr. White is a highly successful and seasoned litigation and trial attorney who has been in private practice since 1990. His primary focus is complex medical malpractice defense and general litigation.

Born and raised in Northern California, where he graduated from college and entered active duty in the U.S. Air Force (USAF), serving from 1979 – 1990, first developing communications equipment, then being selected to attend law school and become a lawyer for the Air Force.

 

From 1984 to 1987, he was an Air Force Judge Advocate (JAG) at F.E. Warren AFB, Wyoming where he began prosecuting courts-martials, then was selected for the Area (criminal) Defense Counsel office and defended criminal accused throughout the greater Rocky Mountain Region.  He tried over 30 courts-martial and administrative board hearings. He was also appointed a Special Assistant U.S. Attorney from 1984 to 1986, prosecuting criminal cases in U.S. District Court, and acting as lead trial counsel on two civil lawsuits against the U.S. Air Force.

From 1987 to 1990, he was stationed in Germany, assigned as Legal Counsel to the USAF Surgeon General for Europe and as the Medical Law Consultant for USAF Europe. He was also In-House Counsel for the largest Air Force Medical Center in Europe, and a Lecturer on Medical and Health Care Law for all USAF medical facilities in Europe and Western Asia.

Mr. White transitioned from active duty to the Reserves in 1990 and began private practice in Rhode Island. He retired from the Air Force Reserves in 2003 as a Lt. Colonel. He has been a volunteer and board member for a variety of town and community organizations and is currently the President of Defense Counsel of Rhode Island (DCRI).

Mr. Soares joined the firm as an associate in 2018 with a focus on general civil litigation.

A native of Rhode Island, Mr. Soares graduated from Providence College in 2012 with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science.  He received his Juris Doctor in 2018 from St. John's University School of Law, where he focused his on litigation.  As a member of the Mock Trial Team, Mr. Soares helped St. John's achieve their No. 2 ranking among all mock trial programs in the country.

Mr. Soares was admitted to practice in Rhode Island in 2018 and he practices in the areas of general civil litigation defense and medical malpractice defense.  He has been practicing at White & Associates, PC since 2018. After only four months of being licensed to practice, he helped achieve a defense verdict while sitting second seat in a Providence County medical malpractice case.  He has achieved numerous other favorable outcomes for White & Associates clients.

 

Mr. Soares is the head of the Young Lawyers Division for the Defense Counsel of Rhode Island, which has established a relationship with Roger Williams Law School to provide students practical experience with defense work while in law school to help broaden their education and make them better attorneys once they graduate and more ready to practice on day one.
